the last empress of the Chinese Empire

When Wanrong became Empress of China, she was already ruling over a land of ghosts. In a matter of months, her country abolished the monarchy and turned all of Wanrong's decadent pleasures into dust.To get more news about last empress of china, you can visit shine news official website.
1. Her pedigree was perfect
Wanrong was born into the Golubo clan in Beijing on 13 November 1906 - and her beginnings were anything but humble. Her father was a high-ranking minister in the imperial court, and her mother had a distinguished pedigree. All in all, her parents would have been overjoyed to spoil their little girl - except that tragedy struck the moment she was born.
2. She killed her mother
Unfortunately, Wanrong's mother had a difficult labour and died of childbed fever - another term for post-partum infection - soon after Wanrong was born. Instead, a kind stepmother raised the little girl as her own daughter. But that didn't mean it was a normal childhood.
3. She was a hot girl
Wanrong's father was extremely progressive for his time and insisted that she receive as good an education as her brothers. Even more fortunately, her father was filthy rich and could afford to send her to an expensive, chi-chi American school in the city of Tianjin. When Wanrong emerged from her tutelage, she was fluent in English, adept at playing the piano... and ready to meet her destiny.
4. She was incredibly beautiful
As Wanrong grew, people couldn't help but notice her transformation into a stunning young woman. With a soft face and wide eyes, she was the perfect representation of the Chinese ideal of beauty at the time... and then there was the fact that this gorgeous girl also came with a very attractive dowry, courtesy of her daddy Warbucks.

5. Her family wanted her to rule the world
In 1922, when Wanrong was only 16, the teenage Emperor Puyi of China went looking for a bride. Although Puyi was no longer technically emperor, having been overthrown in 1911 in favour of the Republic of China, he was still allowed to live in splendour in the Forbidden City. Accordingly, Wanrong's ambitious family offered her as a bride... only this was no fairy tale.
6. She was in a bridal competition
Puyi's courtship of Wanrong didn't involve him swooping in and swearing romantically that he'd only have her - goodness no. In fact, the courtship didn't even involve just her. Instead, the old Dowager Empresses at Puyi's court collected a whole series of photographs of the prettiest girls in the land, and Wanrong was just one of many to be presented to the Emperor. And it gets even more nightmarish.
7. Her fiance was a nightmare
Once the Emperor of China says he wants you as his bride, there's not much you can do about it. Still, Wanrong probably should have thought twice about her engagement. As an emperor who had held the crown since he was a toddler, Puyi had grown into a spoilt young man who was completely incapable of doing anything for himself.
8. Your emperor was a psychopath
In addition to his severe case of rich kid syndrome, Puyi also had a terrifying dark side. He was notorious for his cruelty and enjoyed torturing the eunuchs who served him. He was particularly fond of whipping the poor souls, despite repeated pleas from his counsellors to go easy on them. As Puyi himself later confessed, "My cruelty and love of power were already too ingrained for persuasion to have any effect on me".
