What is the difference between a ghost writer and an author?

ghost book writers is not credited as an author (note the absence of the word "author" in the title)—in fact, she or he is referred to as a "ghost" in terms of credit. Essentially, a ghostwriter does not usually get credit for your book because the published book is solely yours when you hire one.
