FUT 17 Champions Week 1
Permalink

As part of EA's overhaul of Ultimate Team for FIFA 17 they've brought in the all new FUT Champions mode, which combines week day and weekend tournaments for FIFA gamers to compete in for big rewards. If FUT Champions is still a mystery to you even now, you can check out the details we posted a few weeks back here. And you can buy fifa 17 coins here too.

The long and short of it is you try to win as many games as you can with a maximum of 40 playable games each weekend and you get better rewards the more games you win. Simple.

However, one of the most interesting aspects of FUT Champions culminated in the first weekend league closing last night, where social media was awash with commentary, final standings, opinions and images of broken controllers and furniture a plenty... which certainly made for interesting viewing if you're a neutral.

So as you can see, it wasn't going all that well for some of YouTube and Twitch's finest, but there were some success stories to be found among FIFA's pro gamer population, for which FUT Champions is in essence the ultimate proving ground for the FIWC and other localised tournaments which pop-up throughout the year.

Some truly incredible performances there. I would have taken four wins, let alone forty.

So a fairly high profile first week for FUT Champions, but also one with quite a few complaints too. I guess when so much is at stake FIFA does have the tendency to bring out the worst in gamers with every exploit, or glitch considered 'fair game' when the rewards are so high. So with the first weekend league done and dusted we'd like to hear from you guys.

Will you be playing FUT Champions again this week?

How many games did you manage to complete out of 40?

How did you find the overall experience? Fun? Stressful? Meh?

Which reward tier did you place in?

And if you didn't compete this week, has the hype sucked you in?

There's no doubt in my mind that FUT Champions has for the first time ever, provided a credible and compelling outlet for truly competitive online play in FIFA 17. And with worthwhile rewards on offer at every turn, it has significant pulling power to boot. But the big questions for me is, in the long term will FUT Champions be too damn stressful for those of us looking for a more casual pick-up and play experience, that rewards us too? Hit us up in the comments.
