It is believed that the title’s next expansion will bring an end to support for the PlayStation 3 version of the game, though this has not yet been confirmed. The question of whether or not Xbox One players will ever get to join Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has been a constant even before Microsoft announced their new Play ffxivmall Anywhere feature. Bringing PC cross-play, cross-save, and cross-buy to multiple Xbox One games, gamers quickly began asking about the Final Fantasy MMO.Currently cross-play between PC, PS3, and PS4, Square Enix has been firm that cross-play is fundamental to the game. According to Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida (via Polygon), Play Anywhere is a step in the right direction but still not enough for the game to make the jump.“Microsoft actually approached the Final Fantasy XIV team about the cross-platform opportunity,” Yoshida explains “When our team reviewed the regulations that are associated with that, we realized that Microsoft may FFXIV Gil not have the experience or understanding of running an MMORPG as an online game genre just yet. The Final Fantasy XIV team has fed back to Microsoft that there are certain elements of its regulations that we would have to consider waived. We’re waiting on Microsoft’s response for that, but we are having discussions.”After the game’s first expansion, Heavensward, released roughly a year ago. But Square Enix has kept the new content flowing, a massive patch, 3.3, added just earlier this month.A campaign event was recently held in Japan for Final Fantasy XIV, giving players in-game items for qualifying purchases from 7-Eleven stores. Square Enix has announced that the items will be available in North America, but instead through Amazon. Those who make a qualifying purchase of $19.99 or more on Amazon will receive a code that will unlock a number of FF14 Gil exclusive in-game items in Final Fantasy XIV.
