Problem with OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)?

Just installed ES on a fairly new MacBook Air after upgrading to El Capitan. Does not work at all. No problem on my desktop Mac (not yet upgraded to the new OS).  Any ideas?

To be more specific, when the screen saver engages, all I get is a blank gray screen.

Also experiencing the same issue, although it has been hit or miss for me whether it starts with a blank white/gray screen.
